Hazelnut Caramel Acorns

  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped hazelnuts
  • 1/2 lb. caramel candies
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped hazelnuts

Cooking Instructions

Melt butter in saucepan. Add brown sugar and vanilla; stir together. Sift flour and baking powder and stir in other ingredients. Mix in 1/3 cup nuts. Shape dough into balls and flatten bottomside; pinch top so they resemble acorns. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Melt 1/2 lb. caramel candy with 1/8 cup water in top of double boiler. After cookies have cooled, dip flat end into caramel mixture. Then dip into remaining hazelnuts. Makes 3 1/2 dozen cookies.
