Wind Pollinated

  • Hazelnut trees are wind pollinated. Also, unique pollinizer trees are inter-mingled in the orchard to improve pollinization.

Less Water

  • Hazelnuts use less water than many other crops and once established (5yrs) do not require irrigation.

  • Hazelnut is monoecious plant which means that individual male and female flowers develop on the same tree. Male flowers are yellow catkins. Female flowers are tiny and red colored.
